Gabe

Gabe’s mind took him far away from home
Another mid-west boy vowed to make the world his own

Too many books can make the world seem rich
Make this old town look poor
Gabe thought about where he’d rather be
He thought he’d found a door
Away from here

The hours drift
And then they crawl
And ain’t nobody learned
Nothin’ at all
Contempt he sees
In his students eyes
Is just enough to make him realize
That he needs to find a door
Away from here

Ain’t no way out of this mid-west town
No where to run where he won’t be found
Can’t seem to find that door
Away from here

The hours drift
Then they fall
A foreign town became his siren’s call
Gabe’s mind took him
Far away from home
Too many books can make the world seem rich
Make this old town look poor.
Gabe thought about where he’d rather be
He thought he’d found a door
Away from here
